In short
BT Business Broadband usually needs no phone line, is usually activated in around 14 working days (BT shows the dates when you order), includes 4G backup and a static IP on Enhanced and Pro, and includes guest Wi-Fi and security controls on every plan. Forever Communications supplies it as an Authorised Supplier for BT.

We can plan it with you or do it for you. Tell us where you are up to.
Plans and prices
What plans are there? Essential, Enhanced and Pro, plus Ultra, BT's managed plan with Cisco Meraki equipment. See BT Business Broadband packages compared.
Which plan is right for a small business? It depends on how much a day offline would cost you, whether you need a static IP, how big your premises is and who manages security. See broadband for small business.
How much does it cost? It depends on your address, plan, speed, add-ons, contract length and installation, and BT's offers change through the year. We do not publish prices: ask us for a quote. See what affects BT Business Broadband prices.
How long is the contract? Ultra is sold on 36- or 60-month terms; terms for the other plans are confirmed at quote. See BT Business Broadband contracts.
What is the difference between business and home broadband? Business plans add things like a minimum speed guarantee, static IPs, 4G backup, guest Wi-Fi, security controls and business fault-fix levels. See business broadband vs home broadband.
Lines, speeds and installation
Do I need a phone line? Usually not. Full Fibre and Standard Fibre (SOGEA) need no phone line, and BT no longer sells traditional lines, though BT notes that some copper broadband lines still need one. See broadband without a phone line.
What speeds can I get? Up to 900Mbps on BT's main Full Fibre tiers (with up to 104Mbps upload on 900), with Gigabit and 1.6 Gigabit plans at some addresses, up to 76Mbps on Standard Fibre and up to 17Mbps on copper. See BT Business Broadband speeds.
How do I know what my address can get? BT checks each address for Full Fibre, Standard Fibre or copper, and we run the check for you. See check availability.
How long does installation take? BT says activation usually takes around 14 working days, and it shows the available engineer dates when you order. Full Fibre installs vary from 1 to 3 working days where a fibre box is already fitted, to longer where Openreach has to do external work. See BT Business Broadband installation.
What if my speed is below what BT promised? BT gives a minimum guaranteed download speed before your service starts. If your speed falls below it for at least 3 successive days, you report it and BT cannot fix it within 30 days, you can leave without penalty. See BT's minimum speed guarantee and how to run a speed test.
Equipment and Wi-Fi
Which hub will I get? Smart Hub 2 on copper and Standard Fibre with Essential and Enhanced, and Smart Hub 3 on Full Fibre and on Standard Fibre with Pro. Ultra uses a Cisco Meraki security appliance instead.
Can I use my own router? Yes, if it is compatible, but BT's helpdesk does not support third-party routers, and the Smart Hub can run as a modem only. See using your own router.
How do I get Wi-Fi all over the building? Pro includes Complete Wi-Fi Plus, Wi-Fi discs that work with Smart Hub 3, with BT's coverage guarantee for the main building. Ultra uses Cisco Meraki access points. See business Wi-Fi.
Can customers use our Wi-Fi? Every plan includes BT Guest Wi-Fi, a separate password-free network for visitors. See business broadband with guest Wi-Fi.

Backup, static IPs and security
What happens if the line goes down? With Hybrid Backup, included on Enhanced and Pro and an add-on for Essential, the Hybrid Connect device switches to 4G automatically. See BT Hybrid Backup and Hybrid Connect.
Can I get a static IP? One static IP is included with Enhanced and Pro, and it is an add-on for Essential. Ultra does not support static IPs, and existing static IPs cannot be moved from another provider. See static IP addresses.
What security is included? Every plan includes Content Controls and Web Threat Protect, which are switched off by default until you turn them on. Pro adds Wi-Fi Security Controls for device-level control in the BT Business app, and Ultra adds a managed Cisco Meraki security package. See BT Web Protect and Content Controls and business broadband security.
How fast are faults fixed? BT's Standard Care targets the end of the second working day; Prompt Care, included with Pro and Ultra, targets the end of the next working day, including Saturdays. See support and fault fixes and what is BT Prompt Care.
Switching, moving and upgrading
How do I switch to BT? You order, BT contacts your current provider, and BT says the switch takes at least 10 working days, with your existing service carrying on meanwhile and typically about 30 minutes offline on the day. See switching your business broadband to BT.
What if we move premises? Start early: BT says simple moves can be organised in two to three weeks and complex moves can take up to three months. See moving premises with BT Business Broadband.
I am already with BT. Can I upgrade? Yes, to a higher plan, a faster speed, Full Fibre or extra features. See upgrade your BT Business Broadband.
When should I consider a leased line instead? When you need the same upload and download speed, dedicated bandwidth or a stronger service level. See when to upgrade from broadband to a leased line.
Home businesses, startups and sole traders
Can I have business broadband at home? BT says you can if you run your business from home, which gives you business features such as a static IP, backup and business fault fixing. See business broadband at home.
Is there a data limit? No. Every BT Business Broadband plan includes unlimited data.
We are a new business. Can we get online before the line is installed? With Hybrid Backup, BT says you can connect over 4G while you wait for the line. See business broadband for startups.
I am a sole trader. Which plan should I look at? Most sole traders start with Essential or Enhanced, depending on whether a day offline would cost work. See broadband for sole traders.
Is BT Business Broadband the same as BT's home broadband? No. It is a separate business service with business features and terms. BT's home broadband plans are not covered on this site. See business broadband vs home broadband.
Phones and the switch-off
What does the PSTN switch-off mean for my broadband? Copper and older phone-line broadband move to Standard Fibre or Full Fibre, and anything that still uses an analogue line needs checking. See the PSTN switch-off and your business broadband and our sister site's PSTN switch-off guide.
Can I keep my business number? Yes, with a BT Digital Line bundled with Essential, Enhanced or Pro, or with BT Cloud Voice for teams. See BT Business Broadband and Phone.
Will my phones work in a power cut? Digital phone lines do not work in a power cut, so keep a charged mobile handy and check alarms and care pendants. See the PSTN switch-off and your broadband.
